  • Two Masters, two Bassets and a Cat

Evan received his Masters in Civil Engineering yesterday. We are so proud of him as I’m sure are Amanda, Denise and Dennis.

Way to go Evan! There sure are some smart people in your house. :)

  • More flowers from the yard.

I am so lucky to have a hubby who loves to garden–not just vegetables but all sorts of flowers, too. Some of our “showier” flowers are in bloom right now and are just gorgeous.

  • Ferns – Fiddleheads – Ferns – Fiddleheads

I never paid too much attention to ferns as they grow in the wild until last year. We have tons and tons of them in BG and watching them come out of the ground and open up is quite amazing. They are so cool looking as they start to unfurl. Here are some shots taken in the last few days.

  • We took a walk…

to the top of the mountain and here’s some of the things we saw:

    And then there was this:

Bubba bets the bassets can't jump this high.
  • They’re Baaaaaaack!

Hummingbirds that is. We decided to spend a few days in NC to see how Spring was progressing. It is and very nicely I might add. We did get a big, but happy surprise–the hummingbirds are back. Or did they ever leave? I do believe they’re glad that we’re here so we could put out their feeders.

    Incoming!

Does it look like he's posing?
  • The Wyoming Columbines

Amanda and Evan’s back door neighbors, Nancy and George, have the most gorgeous columbines. I guess they could tell how much I liked the columbines because Nancy brought us a bag of seeds. We had no luck in getting them to grow last year, but they have really taken off this Spring. I just love the colors!

  • Just for fun!

Photography club’s competition subject this month is “Shoes”. I knew that I had a couple of photos that I’d be using for my entries, but I wanted to do something fun. When I was at Michael’s a couple of weeks ago I saw these cute pink shoelaces. I immediately thought of Sara, who loves pink, and thought I’d pick them up for her. But then I thought how funny they’d look on Tommy’s work boots (sorry, Sara!). Tommy was a good sport and let me do this but as soon as I’d taken the photos he wanted his laces put back on. :)

  • The Dogwoods are opening and the Ants are biting.

I think that I prefer the dogwoods like this better than wide open and very white. They seem to have more depth to them. That’s not to say that they aren’t perfectly beautiful when they are fully open.

And then there are the ants. These guys bite me all the time. A lot of times when I’m shooting macro I’m kneeling or lying on the ground and they are all over me. I usually end up with whelps from their bites. The things I go through for my art. Ha! :)

  • More Spring!

Spring in NC is a few weeks behind home. Things are just starting to pop up and bloom.
