  • Got to get them while I can.

Some more Spring photos from around the yard. It won’t be long before the dogwoods and other Spring blooms will be gone. But that’s not all bad as that leads into the Summer flowers–cone flowers, dahlias, zinnias and sunflowers. Yay!

  • As I was out looking for flowers…

I saw this bluebird sitting up in a tree. Normally I can’t get anywhere close to these little guys, but this one let me get surprisingly close. I wish he would have turned to give me a profile so all of his beautiful blue would have shown.

  • Happy Spring!

Here’s hoping for a very long Spring and a very short Summer!

  • A Birthday and a New Camera

I’ve been thinking about upgrading my camera for a while. So Tommy and I decided since this was a big birthday, I should go ahead and do it now. I’d been reading and waiting for Nikon to come out with their upgrades. They did–one that was totally out of my price range and the other was not quite as expensive but was a full frame. I just didn’t think that I wanted the full frame as I like the extra reach I get with my cropped frame camera. The one camera that I was hoping they’d be offering just hasn’t come out yet and I was told probably won’t until Christmas, if then. The D7000 that I did get has received rave reviews and I’ve played with one that a friend has. Now I have to learn where everything is on this new one.

Yesterday morning (my birthday) Tommy and I took Bubba for his walk. When we got home we went to the Waffle House for breakfast–great way to start the day, right? Then I went out to play. :) What better time to go out and play with a new camera than Spring in the South?

  • Always Working

Whenever we go to the house in NC, Tommy has to be doing something. Here he comes from cutting firewood that we will use for the next winter or two:

This, of course, makes Bubba and me happy so we can do more of this:

  • Blueberries & Dogwoods

The blueberries and dogwoods in our yard are really looking pretty right now. I love how green the dogwoods are when they first start opening, especially knowing how brilliantly white they eventually turn. While the blueberries are pretty, I’m not sure I’ve ever gotten to taste them–the birds love them.

  • I can’t wait!

    Until this:

    And I have to say,

    Happy Birthday Tommy!

  • Spring is Here!

And, I don’t believe that we’re going to get hit with ice and snow this year. (Did I just jinx us?) The signs of early Spring are here though. I sure hope that the warm weather continues so that Tommy can get out and work/play in the yard. I think he’s got a bad case of cabin fever.

  • 34 Years!

What has this picture got to do with 34 Years? One thing–humor. One thing I’ve learned about being married for 34 years is that you must have/keep a sense of humor.

Bubba keeps Tommy and me laughing. I know I’ve said it before here, but I’ll say it again–this beagle is a great big goofball! I was outside this morning trying to get some macro shots of some plants showing their Spring beauty. I looked up and what did I see? A beagle butt!

Happy Anniversary Tommy! I love you bunches.

  • Blue

This was to be my entry for my photography club’s competition this month. The subject was blue. As soon as I took this picture (coming home from Wyoming in October) I knew I wanted to submit this one. I guess I’ve had so much on my mind in the past few weeks that I completely forgot to enter this picture. In addition, I completely forgot to attend the meeting.
