  • A Busy Few Days

After the funeral and before everyone headed home, we had to go through Doris’ house so it could be decided on who wanted what out of it. There was a list to go by, but not everyone wanted what had been designated for them. The process was surprisingly less stressful than anticipated.

  • Saying Goodbye

Tommy’s mom passed away on Monday, April 15. At 97, she’d lived a long, full life.

It took us a little time to get the grandkids all together for a funeral. On April 25, the funeral for Doris was held at Roswell Methodist Church. Amanda, Evan, Miss B, Hall, Molly and Abigail were all in attendance. We took the opportunity to take some family photos.

How can that be? It was just yesterday that she was a baby.

After we’d been home from Moab for a few days, I spent a lot of time outside photographing birds–and it was mainly bluebirds.

  • 2019 Moab Trip – Day 10

    Sunday, March 24

We left the hotel at 8:55. Since all of the sightseeing was done, we wanted to get home as quickly as we could. We both missed Bubba!

Although we had been to Arches/Moab before, we thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

    We got home at 4:08.

    Total miles driven – 3909

  • 2019 Moab Trip – Day 9

    Saturday, March 23

We left the hotel at 9:15. It was 43 degrees and misting. We drove to Damar to take pictures of St. Joseph Catholic Church. We had been there before, but this time we were going inside. Before we got to Damar we saw this church.

St. Joseph Catholic Church Damar, KS One of my favorite churches we’ve seen on our trips.

After spending some time taking pictures and marveling at the beauty both inside  and outside of this church, we got back on the road and headed east. We got to Warrenton, MO, filled up the truck and got a room at the Holiday Inn Express. Dinner was from Imo’s Pizza.

  • 2019 Moab Trip – Day 8

    Friday, March 22

Tommy, Hall and I left Amanda, Evan and Miss B at the condo to clean up and check out. Tommy and I were going to drop Hall off at a hotel by the airport so he could catch his flight the next day.

We got to Hall’s hotel in Denver, dropped him off and then drove on to Colby, KS. We stayed at the Comfort Inn for the night.

    Total miles driven – 2792

  • 2019 Moab Trip – Day 7

    Thursday, March 21

Our last day in Moab so we went out to Arches again. The place fascinates me!

We were going to try to get a family picture with a nice background but it was too windy and cold.

  • 2019 Moab Trip – Day 6

    Wednesday, March 20

When we were still at home planning our trip I wanted to do something we had not yet done. A friend had taken one of the jet boat tours when they were in Moab and it looked like fun. So I scheduled us for a Moab Jet Scenic tour. It was a 3 hour trip on the Colorado River.

Since our boat tour wasn’t until the afternoon, we went climbing. Well, the kids went climbing as Tommy and I watched.

We were all supposed to go on the boat tour but Miss B wasn’t feeling well so we left her and Amanda at the condo.

According to our guide, the river was low so we weren’t able to see/do some things that we might have. But it was enjoyable to see the scenery from the river.

  • 2019 Moab Trip – Day 5

    Tuesday, March 19

Once again Tommy, Hall and I went to Arches early. Others stayed in bed, although Evan may have gone for a run or a ride.

When we got back to the condo, we packed up to go for a ride. First stop was at the petroglyphs.

Later Tommy, Hall and I went out to Arches to see a sunset.
