I have no idea what this is…

but I love the colors!

After I posted this and went outside to take some more pictures, Tommy found this in our Wildflowers of North Carolina book. It’s name is Hearts-a-Bustin. I can see that, can you?
Here are a few other pictures I took while I was outside:
Milkweed–there’s a bunch of this here and it’s pretty cool watching it float in the air.

A Quick Trip to Asheville

Hall signed up to run the half marathon in Asheville yesterday. Sara and I decided to go and cheer him on. We had to get up and leave the house by 5:30 a.m. to meet Scott who had Hall’s number and race chip.

Here are Scott and Hall just before the race started:

After they got started, Sara and I walked around downtown Asheville to take some pictures.

Our first stop for pictures was at the Basilica of St. Lawrence. Unfortunately it was difficult to get any good pictures without power lines.

There were some areas of Asheville that were in the fog. Really cool!

Sara is learning/relearning photography which thrills me to no end. And, she’s asked me to help her learn. I just wish I was a better teacher. Here she is taking some flower photos:

The Ford Tri-Motor Tin Lizzie

Tommy and I drove over to Briscoe Field yesterday after learning that the Tin Lizzie was going to be there. The Tin Lizzie club takes the plane around to different locations and sells tickets for a 20 minute or so flight. The cost of the flight is $60. No way was I going up in the plane even if it had been free. Tommy wasn’t interested either so we just walked around looking at it. Actually I walked around taking pictures and Tommy talked to some of the club members about the plane. Did you even know that Ford made airplanes? I’m pretty sure that my dad worked for Ford Aircraft at some point.

The first flight that took off was full of “PR” people and was a very short flight. While it was up in the air I walked over to this little beauty:

Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning

On my way to work that morning I decided to go by the YMCA to visit a friend of mine. While there, someone came in and told us that a plane had hit the World Trade Center. At that point everyone thought it was a horrible accident. When I got to work a bit later it was becoming pretty clear this was not an accident, but an attack on our country. I stayed at the office for a little while then went home. The rest of the day I sat in front of the TV just wondering what in the world was going on–so afraid for our country and so very sad for the victims.

This song still gives me the chills when I listen to it:
Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning by Alan Jackson

Making him laugh!

I have recently received some very old family slides which I am slowly going through and scanning. Many of these pictures I’ve never seen before and I’m enjoying them immensely. The quality of the pictures is not great as many of them are more than 50 years old.

Here are a couple of my favorites so far:

I’m guessing that Terry’s thought right here was along the lines of, “you dumb girl”! :)

I don’t have many pictures of me with my dad, so this one is pretty special.

Woo Hoo! Way to go Cowgirls!

By way of Facebook, we found out that the Wyoming Cowgirls’ soccer team was going to be playing Kennesaw State here in town. Since it looked like it was going to be a nice day and we thought the Cowgirls might appreciate a couple of fans, we went to see the game. As it turned out we were 2 out of about 10 or 11 Wyoming fans.

Here they are coming off the field victorious! They put the winning goal in with about 55 seconds left in the game. Woo Hoo! I think they were pretty excited to see their cheering fans.
