A Birthday
A Few More Photos
Here are a few more shots taken over the past days. The view—I never tire of looking at it or taking photos of it.
This was just down the road from the barn (Uncle Bob said it was a shed and he knows because he’s from the farming area of south Chicago) that I submitted for A Moment in Time.

A Moment in Time
There was an article in the NY Times (thanks for finding this Tommy) about photographers world wide contributing photos taken at a particular Moment in Time. For those of us in EST we were to take a picture at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 2. Tommy and I left the house about 9:30 and headed up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was a very cloudy day and I wanted to see if I could get a good picture of either Looking Glass Rock or Devil’s Courthouse in the clouds. Nope! But we always enjoy riding around these mountains so it wasn’t a problem. On the way back to the house we decided to take the road into Pinhook Valley (I’m not really sure that’s the name, but that’s what I call it). It is such a pretty area. When we saw this barn?? I hopped out of the truck and took some pictures. Everything in this little valley looked so clean and fresh from all the rain we’d gotten the night before.
Spring is just beginning here.
Mill and old School House
Over a year ago my Aunt Alline told me about this old mill (I believe it’s called Gresham Mill) that is on Sixes Road. So after a good rain, Tommy and I drove over to it to take some pictures. This mill supposedly dates back to the mid-1800’s.
When we were with Aunt Alline and Uncle Bob last week they were talking about the Old Sixes School House which is not too far from the mill. On Sunday morning with nothing to do I drove over to find it. Once I remembered it was on Bells Ferry Road and not Ridge Road I found it.
I love old buildings. I wonder if it’s because I can relate??

Another sign of Spring — Baseball!
This past Wednesday, Tommy and I along with my Aunt Alline and Uncle Bob went to see the Rome Braves play. The Rome Braves are the single A farm team for the Atlanta team. The kids (I say that because they are probably 18, 19 or 20 years old) that play here are hoping to make it to the big league. The stadium is great and no matter where you sit you have a good seat. You really feel like you’re right there with them. But watch out if a foul ball is hit your way because you don’t have much time to react. Anyway, the game we went to was a 1:00 p.m. game. The attendance that day was only about 2,000 people. It was a beautiful day, the company was good, the ice cream (Mayfield’s of course) was yummy and the Braves won!
When we stood to sing during the 7th inning stretch, the camera guy showed up and put us on the big screen.
So sad, but not for long.
It seems that so much bloomed all at one time here this Spring. While that is nice, it also means that a lot of blooms are nearly gone now. These tulips are the last that we see on our walk around the circle. Next up to bloom are the irises, peonies, daylilies and not long after that purple cone flowers and dahlias!
We’re Being Overrun!
Our whole neighborhood is overrun with dandelions this year. Of course most people look at them and think, “Ugh–weeds.” I however think, “photo ops!” :) I told Tommy the other day that we couldn’t cut the grass until I was able to get out and take some pictures. I think that he thinks he’s married to a crazy lady.
